Prienai „Revuona“ basic school is a modern continually learning school that is open to constant change, safe and ready to take over and disseminate the best teaching experience. Its mission is to provide a quality education taking into consideration individual abilities and needs of each student. It implants main human values, ensures the coherence of formal and non-formal education by setting up necessary conditions for the students‘ self-expression.
Our school supplies general education for 340 pupils, including 44 who are with special needs and 14 who attend classes for young people with a very low level of motivation. Programmes of pre-primary, primary, basic, pre-professional education and implanting of social skills are being fulfilled in our school.
17 pupils of our school participate in the educational reform Productive learning, which is very convenient as it addresses a need for skills and abilities which are increasingly required by the international society and industry due to dealing successfully with vocational and private tasks, such as: independence, taking initiatives, ability to cooperate, and productivity. One day a week the pupils go to the work they have chosen in order to acquire competence for future studies and getting a job later.
There is a big diversity of forms for non-formal education in our school. The most popular are clubs of geography, singing, modern dancing, aerobics, science „Let‘s know and protect nature“, ceramics, badminton, classes of purposeful art education. Many pupils attend Sports, Art and Music schools as well.
The staff consists of 59 teachers among them social pedagogue, a psychologist, a special educator, a speech therapist and a librarian. We have got service workers as well.
The school is proud of its museum, which was founded in 2004. You can see many exhibits about the school history, national costumes, school uniforms, different tools and documents.
In the museum pupils have special lessons, meet with their class master or have activities of various clubs.
As one of the main priorities we have defined developing of a 'learning to learn' competence. Our teachers apply active teaching methods and in their practise they widely integrate IT with other subjects.
The school takes part in the project „Leaders‘ time 2“.
Having a purpose to develop an educational process it organizes methodical conferences for teachers from our and other schools, and the participants can share their successful experiences and teaching discoveries with each other.
This year we are implementing a system of student‘s personal learning progress by its observation, fixation and analyzing of results.
Prienai region has unique territory with beautiful nature, impressive banks of the river Nemunas, abundance of cultural heritage, the historic past of villages and small provincial towns.
Since 2010 we have been participating in the international environmental fund environmental schools‘ programme and have been rewarded with the Green Flag.
Pupils celebrate special days and festivals, take part in different regional and national competitions and projects.
We always commemorate the Day of Tolerance.
„I am a Lithuanian“ is a project with a Lithuanian Saturday school in London.
„Friends of the Apple“ is an international programme of early prevention, the goal of which is to help pupils reinforce social skills.
The school has Olweus name and Certificate as it has been carrying out bullying prevention programme OLWEUS.
